NewReg.co.uk Reveals New Trend of Plates as Baby Christening Gifts
Personal car registration plates have tripled in popularity as christening gifts according to leading personal number plate company New Reg.
New Reg encourages feedback from thousands of the company’s customers on an ongoing basis. In just 15 months up to and including February 2005, the number of people stating ‘christening gift’ as the reason for purchase has more than tripled. New Reg sales and marketing manager Markerle Davis said:
“We monitor feedback carefully and look out for trends which can help us offer our customers the best possible service. The significant trend of car number plates being purchased as christening gifts represents has come as something of a surprise.
“But if this level of popularity is maintained christening gifts could realistically account for more than 10% of our total sales in the future.
“Customers buying christening gifts have told us that they wanted a personal present that would last a life time – and car number plates fit the bill. I suppose people must be looking for something more original than booties, pewter tankards and gift tokens – which is where New Reg can help!”
New Reg has an online searchable database of around 40 million number and letter permutations available from as little as £69.
And more New Reg customers are also discovering the investment potential of number plates too as Markerle adds:
“Who knows – maybe in the future personal number plates will challenge the popularity of premium bonds as christening gifts? We’ve seen the value of personal number plates over the same research period increase steadily giving them arguably similar investment potential.”
Other popular reasons for purchasing personal number plates according to New Reg customer feedback include favourite football teams, favourite celebrity, or even a driver’s profession. However, people’s names or initials remain the most popular reason for personal number plate choice.
