Romance on a Plate for MINI Tours of Scotland
A unique MINI tour operator believes purchasing a new personal number plate from cherished number plate supplier New Reg has heralded a period of unusually romantic behaviour amongst his customers.
31 year old Craig Flynn from Edinburgh uniquely takes tourists on guided excursions throughout Scotland in a red MINI Cooper.
And he is convinced that the recent purchase of a new personal number plate ‘N9 SCO’ – in honour of his passion for Scotland - has co-incided with an increase in the number of bookings from couples.
As many as 20 advance bookings have already been received for the summer. Craig said,
“MINI tours of Scotland appeal to a broad range of ages and group types. But since I bought the plate the number of bookings from couples in particular has steadily increased.”
The increasing romantic tendencies of Craig’s customers have culminated in a couple getting engaged directly after their MINI tour of Scotland.
Belinda and Daniel Ryan enjoyed one of Craig’s tours on a trip from Australia last month before announcing there engagement barely an hour after arriving back in Edinburgh. Belinda said,
“We walked down to Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh for a picnic and we got caught up in the romance of the red MINI and the Scottish countryside. It just seemed the prefect time to get engaged!
“We can’t thank Craig enough for a day both of us will never forget.”
The New Reg online database boasts more than 40 million number plate combinations from as little as £69. Number plates available for devoted romantics include ‘FAB 53X’, ‘1 0VE’ and even ‘R4 NDY’. But the company confirmed that this was the first instance of a personal plate having special romantic powers.
Marketing manager Markerle Davis said,
“Cherished number plates are personal for many reasons – and I suppose this is where ‘emotions’ can come into play. I think in Craig’s case the spectacular countryside - along with the cosy touring environment that the MINI provides – has had a bearing on the mood of his clientele.”
Craig added,
“I try and appeal to all types of people. I've already got lots of bookings for the summer period including tourists travelling to Scotland from cruise liners who want a day trip around the highlands.
“But the number plate has been a lucky charm for me. After the MINI it’s the best business investment I ever made. Here’s hoping it continues to work its magic for many years to come.” Craig set up Mini Tours Scotland in July 2004 with the aim of delivering a high quality tour experience for visitor's to Scotland. The service differs from tour buses or chauffeur drives by accessing many of the small Highland roads or narrow cobbled streets they can’t get to. He also offer the flexibility to change itineraries according to customer’s interests as each tour develops. And look out for Craig’s Sean Connery impression in the tour cabaret!
