London Taxis To Carry Registration Plates on the Sides as Well as the Front and Back
Taxis in London will be the first in the country to carry number plates on the sides as well as front and back thanks to a unique agreement with cherished number plate supplier New Reg.
70 taxis have been earmarked to carry some of the most exclusive and potentially controversial personal number plates currently available in the UK.
Beginning in April, Londoners and tourists a like can expect to see controversial plates including FET 15H, R4 NDY, FAB 53X and SAT 4N emblazoned on the sides of black cabs in central London.
Other exclusive plates currently available to purchase from the New Reg website like S4 UNA, 80 XER, CLA 55, P5 YCO, 5I N and TOY 8OY will also feature in the campaign.
NewReg marketing manager Markerle Davis said:
“We’re an innovative company and delighted to be the first company to put registration plates on the side of London Taxis with this exciting campaign. We hope that some of the more controversial plates we’re using will bring a smile to the face of people who see them.
“Our only regret is that we don’t have space on 70 cabs for all the 40 million number plates we currently have available!”
NewReg has also revealed plans to commission event-related cabs as part of the taxi campaign. The taxi carrying the number plate 81 LLY will be seen in streets in and around the Victoria Palace Theatre where the musical Billy Elliot is playing.
And Knightsbridge may well see the taxi with W1 NER on the side if Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea bring back the silverware this season. Markerle added:
“The campaign focuses on the prestigious word plates but number plates featuring customer’s initials remain the most popular. We’d urge anyone inspired by the cabs to visit the New Reg website and pick up a personal bargain.”
More information about personal number plates is available on the website www.newreg.co.uk with plates available from as little as £69.
