GUN 8D is a suffix-style registration. The suffix letter D at the end of the plate identifies it as a 1966 registration. Suffix plates were the standard UK format from 1963 to 1983. Under DVLA rules, GUN 8D can be assigned to any vehicle first registered in 1966 or earlier. Suffix plates with strong initials or short numbers are among the most collectable formats available.
GUN 8D was first made available in 1966. The original issuing office for this combination is Denbighshire C.C.. Local council and county borough offices issued plates within their geographic area — the issuing office identifies the regional origin of the registration.
