Plate Details

NC 1 is a dateless registration — one of the most desirable formats in the UK personalised plate market. Dateless plates carry no year identifier, which means they can be transferred to a vehicle of any age with no restriction. This flexibility, combined with their short format and limited availability, makes dateless plates among the most sought-after on the market.

Registration History

These initials were originally issued in August 1920 and continued to be issued through to March 1923. The original issuing office is Manchester C.B.C..

• Is NC 1 available to buy, and what does it cost? +
NC 1 is not currently listed for sale on NewReg. We can investigate availability on your behalf — use the Register Interest button and our team will research the plate and contact you with pricing. NewReg has been sourcing personalised number plates since 1991.
• What is included when I buy NC 1 from NewReg? +
Your purchase of NC 1 from NewReg includes: full DVLA transfer service — we handle all paperwork on your behalf at no extra charge beyond the standard DVLA transfer fee, a certificate of entitlement, and road-legal acrylic number plates. The £80 DVLA transfer fee is shown separately at checkout and paid direct to the DVLA. NewReg has been a DVLA-recognised reseller and CNDA member since 1991.
• Can I put NC 1 on any vehicle? +
NC 1 is a dateless registration — it carries no year identifier. Under DVLA rules, dateless plates can be transferred to a vehicle of any age, making them one of the most flexible personalised number plates available.
• Does NewReg offer a price guarantee on NC 1? +
Yes. NewReg guarantees you will not find NC 1 advertised cheaper by any other UK dealer. If you do find a lower price for the same plate, we will beat it — our guarantee covers the full cost including the plate rights, VAT, and the DVLA transfer fee. • What does NC 1 mean as a personalised plate? +
As a personalised number plate, NC 1 is most often chosen because it reads as the name or word Ncii. The DVLA issues registrations based on a formula of letters and numbers — the personal meaning comes from how buyers interpret the combination. NC 1 is a popular choice for anyone named Ncii or with a personal or professional connection to that word.
